Chennault Battalion (US Navy Sea/League Cadets) is a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to the growth and development of youth in the Southwest Louisiana area, by instilling in them patriotism, leadership, discipline, honor, pride, and courage. Cadets develop these qualities through a military and maritime oriented training program with emphasis on leadership skills, accountability, and teamwork.
Chennault Battalion serves youth ages 10 – 18. As an affiliated organization, Chennault Battalion is a member of the U. S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit.
Every year we provide cadets the opportunity to experience hands-on training, community outreach, team-building exercises, and leadership building retreats. The Sea Cadet experience is something that each cadet can look back on as one of the greatest and most memorable experiences of their lives! In addition to monthly drills, each cadet is afforded the opportunity to participate in summer advancement trainings; to include areas such as medical, aviation, law enforcement, leadership, culinary arts, international studies, and basic recruit training (Boot Camp). Each cadet is also proud to serve the community by participating in activities such as Honor Guard ceremonies, Color Guard presentations, and community parades.
Our goal is to never deny a youth the opportunity to become a future leader by limiting ability to participate in this program due to finances. Currently, 90% of all funding for cadet uniforms, travel, supplies, food, and activities are the responsibility of the parent, which can total as high as $500 per year.
